Beautiful start to Autumn!

We stripped the squash and courgette plants out, ready for the new winter growing season.

Looking forward to harvesting the growing Romanescos, I do love this vegetable!

Trimmed the brassicas of any leaves that were touching the protective mesh, after we found caterpillars on a new brassica! Also found batches of eggs laid on the mesh protecting the new Mizuna and Turnip seedlings, so vigilance is crucial right now!

The lotty is starting to look quite bare as the summer crops die and get removed, but we have new cold frames on order and will be sowing the winter crops over the coming weeks!

Really looking forward to the new growing season, don't forget to subscribe and follow us through the coming weeks and months!

Happy growing!

The skies were mesmerising this evening!

The predicted storm never arrived, so we went down to water. And was glad we did!

Absolutely amazing skies!

Plus another massive crop of beans!

Just wanted to share the pictures, only a few days before our late August photo upload! Check out how things have grown over the last few weeks, some great pictures coming up!

See you soon!

Website Relaunch Day!

What a fantastic day to relaunch the new website!

Another substantial harvest again today, the runner beans are pumping out endless crops, I've started freezing batches for winter!

First tomatillo harvest today, plus more cucumbers, squashes, white chard, a couple of gherkins, and some baby carrots that were wrapped around each other!

Cabbages are forming heads, and we can't wait to try the Romanesco!

Still very much going on down the lotty as we move into September, so make sure to check back for late August photo galleries!

We hope you enjoy the pictures, please follow us on social media, send us a message, or offer your support if you can.

It's always a beautiful day down at the allotment, we hope to see you again soon!

Took the grandkids down tonight, to 'help' with watering! 'M' did a great job, watering the brassica bed edges. 'A' somehow ended up with soil in her ear!

The seeds we planted 4 days ago have already started sprouting seedlings, tiny little sprout lings, so cute!

Gave all the brassicas a trim, removing large, bulky leaves to encourage tight heads to form. Really happy with how the brassicas are growing, and absolutely LOVE the emerging Romanesco's!

We also had the pleasure of watching a paraglider performing loops right in front of us, before landing in the next field!

The nights really are drawing in now, sunset is getting earlier every day! But it's always a beautiful day at the allotment!

Happy growing!

Friday 22nd August 2025

From first plantings in late May 2025, we have been blessed with an abundance of produce!

Tuesday 19th August 2025

Had a productive afternoon at the lotty today, prepping for the end of the summer growing season and the coming colder months.

Stripped out the dying pea plants and built up the beds with rich top soil, then planted 1 row of Mizuna and 1 row of Turnips. Another row of each will be added every few weeks until there are 4 rows (staggered planting).

We covered the seed beds to protect from birds and watered them in.

It's almost sad to see plants wither and die, but the potential for new growth is always exciting! Peas were an education this season, next year will be better!

Onwards, ever onwards!

Monday 18th August 2025

Spent all day building the new website, added 11 new pages with 6 days to relaunch!

Popped down to the lotty after dropping M and A home to mum, gave everything a good water as the clouds that had threatened rain all day, never dropped any!

Will be returning tomorrow to start planning bed clearances for winter growth, and harvest more beans!

Expecting a seed delivery tomorrow, will update when it arrives!

Overcast, but still a beautiful evening!
